FUTURE MARVEL CHARACTER AND CAST PICKS

avengers earths mightiest heroes
We casting the Marvel Cinematic Universe
OUR MARVEL CHARACTER
AS WELL AS CAST PICKS FOR FUTURE MARVEL FILMS

Marvel 2012
Who will join the Avengers in Avengers 2??

With the recent astronomical success that Marvel's Avengers proved to be, and quite frankly is still proving to be, the comic book genre has been reinvigorated, revitalized and re-energized by Marvel's "Phase One" as it looks like we will be seeing a lot more Comic book characters make the leap to the big screen in future.

Where the Dark Knight showed the world that comic book characters could be taken seriously, when the right tone is found for the character. In Batman’s case it just happened to be when the film is more dark, realistic and grounded.

Avengers, on the other hand, showed the world why we love comics, by bringing us a story that could have easily been taken out the pages, panel for panel, of a Marvel Comic.

Needless to say that we are very excited to see what the future holds for Earths Mightiest Heroes, and as such with a Ant-Man film edging ever so closely to being realized, we decided to look at some of Marvel's Awesome characters that could make that leap to the big screen, and then we looked at the actors and actresses that could potentially play them.

We based our decisions on getting the right person, based on their look, as well their overall acting ability. We seen how Marvel has gone about picking the right people to play their heroes, whether they young and unknown (Chris Hemsworth - Thor, Tom Hiddleston - Loki), older and experienced (Sam Jackson - Nick Fury, Robert Downey Jr. - Iron Man) or simply good experienced known actors (Chris Evans - Captain America, Scarlett Johansson - Black Widow), it doesn't matter really, Marvel just look for the perfect fit for the role.

As for the characters, we just picked some of our favorite characters that we would like to see sometime in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So check out our Top picks below and let us know what you think?
On a Weekly basis we will go into more depth about why we chose these specific characters and why we chose that specific actor or actress to play them. So make sure you come back to FilmRaps to check out that, as we will release two character + cast pick per week!

Let us know what you think? Should Marvel hire us for our inspiring picks, or should we just keep writing interesting articles to get the fan-boy brain running in overdrive??

ANT MAN AND WASP

Avengers Ant Man, Wasp, Apartment 23, krysten Ritter, James Van Der beek, The mentalist, the artist dawsons creek 2012
Berenice Bejo, Simon Baker, James van der Beek & Krysten Ritter
Our picks for AntMan and Wasp
This is probably the whole reason why we did this article, with Marvel President Kevin Feige, recently announcing that a Ant-Man film is closer than ever to becoming a reality, it's probably safe to say that Henry Pym, along with his wife, Wasp, will be joining the Avengers in the sequel.

OLDER ANT MAN AND WASP
Simon Baker is amazing as the Mentalist with his fine eye for detail; this is something that Ant-man shares, just with a fine eye for detail in technology and science. He is our number One Choice for Ant-Man.

Our Wild Card pick for Wasp, and probably our number one choice, will have to be Bérénice Bejo, the French star from the Artist. We might not know anything about her, but she really does look the part, and she really gives an awesome performance in the Artist. This could be the type of role that could define as this character and we think she could easily be loved as wasp.

YOUNG ANT MAN AND WASP
In this case we go with James van der Beek! Yes the guy that played Dawson's Creek is our pick, and why not?? He has the look, he has the acting ability, and he will probably do an incredible job of portraying a slightly young Hank Pym.

Our young Wasp will have to be Krysten Ritter (Perfect Casting). She always plays characters that are quite charismatic, vibrant, and she always seems to be having fun with her roles. With her as Janet, you can be assured that Wasp will be the fun, loving, yet the big personality we come to expect from the small Avenger.

MS MARVEL

Ms Marvel avengers marvel 2012 2015 film
Katherine Winnick, MS MARVEL, Claire Danes and Charlize Theron

Ms. Marvel is probably one character that is as big, powerful and prominent as the big three (Iron Man, Thor and Captain America) in The Avengers, in recent years! Ms. Marvel has really made her name for herself, so much so, that she is often the leader for the Avengers, and soon we will be seeing her become Marvels new Captain Marvel.

Charlize Theron would be the perfect casting for Carol Danvers. To many fans as well as us Ms. Marvel has really become the big iconic Avenger, which can stand alongside the "Big Three" as one of the best. She is a real big character and as such you would want an actress that can command the screen, and Charlize Theron can most certainly do that.

Claire Danes, has been acting for along time now, having a whole lot of TV has well film roles, she is tremendously versatile and a wonderful talent, a role like Ms. Marvel would certainly make sure that everybody knows who she is.

Katherine Winnick is our wildcard pick!! She definitely looks the part, and she has starred in a whole bunch of films and TV series albeit in minor roles. She has won silver medals in The Canadian National Taekwondo championships; needless to say she is a real fighter. With this girl being a certified fighter, and having the perfect look to play Carol Danvers, who knows, Ms. Marvel might just be her breakout role.

DOCTOR STRANGE

avengers 2012 2016
Eric Dane, Doctor Strange and Jean Dujardin

Doctor Strange is probably one thee most powerful characters in Marvels History, and he his abilities with magic cannot be rivaled!

Eric Dane is our number one pick for Doctor Strange! He definitely has the look to play Strange, but this character might be a bit of a push for Dane, but we feel that he would be brilliant in it.

Jean Dujardin is probably a wild card pick for this character, but he does have tremendous acting ability and seeing his 2 Funny or Die vids, it's clear his not shy to have a bit of fun, and Doctor Strange will be a stretch for him, but we think Jean will have fun in this role, and fans will enjoy performance by the French man! We just like Jean!!

BLACK PANTHER

avengers 2 2012 2015
Djimon Honsou, Black Panther and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

T'Challa is one of the few black superheroes to have really made an impact in the comic book world. T'Challa comes from a fictional country in Africa called Wakanda where the title Black Panther is given to the chief of the tribe.

He also becomes a long-standing member of the Avengers, so if they choose to add more members in film, T'Challa is a no brainier.

Djimon Honsou is by far every fans number one choice as well as ours!! If there is someone that is meant for this role it has to be Djimon. It will be lovely to see his banter with Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, when it comes to whose technology is better! Djimon is a shoe in for the role.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is our second choice for the role, as he certainly looks the part, and he is a very good actor given his long line of roles that have been quite different in the past.

LUKE CAGE

avengers 2 2015 2012
Luke Cage: Dwayne Johnson, Michael Jai White and Terry Crews

Luke Cage is a mercenary for hire, but then he also becomes a true hero, and an active member of the Avengers as well as becoming a leader of his own Avenger team.

Luke Cage posses superhuman strength, durability, a healing factor and is a very skilled fighter. He is quite the personality, being very charismatic but can be quite serious at times.

Dwayne Johnson is quite frankly an obvious choice given his physique, personality and action star status. The Rock has shown that he is more than capable of headlining is own film, as well as taking a back step in a ensemble film, which is important when thinking about Avengers.

Michael Jai White is probably our Second choice; he has the body, and the personality to really pull off a great Luke Cage. If you seen him has Gambol in the Dark Knight or has Jax in Mortal Kombat Legacy, you will know this is the guy that should be Luke Cage!

Terry Crews is our wild card pick. Terry never really had a big film with him as the sole protagonist, Luke Cage will be the perfect opportunity for Terry Crews to carry his own film, as well as being the perfect person to join a huge ensemble cast like the Avengers.

SHE-HULK
Avengers 2 2012 2016
Gina Carano, She Hulk and Erica Durance

She-Hulk has probably the easiest origin story than all female and male superheroes. It could be so easily adapted for Avengers 2 or a Hulk film! (We won't touch on it now, but make sure you check back when we explain why we want She-Hulk).

She-Hulk is also a long-standing member of the Avengers but also a Member of S.H.I.E.L.D., she will be a welcomed addition to the team.

Gina Carano is our Number One Pick for She-Hulk! This lady is an ex-UFC fighter and she is beautiful!! She might not have a whole lot of acting experience but she is better than most models, singers or wrestlers, and all her fighting experience could seriously come in handy for big action sequences.

Erica Durance is our wild card pick for She-Hulk, after all She-Hulk aka Jennifer Walters is a certified lawyer, so she is smart, powerful and incredibly charming, traits that Erica has shown on countless episodes of Smallville.

VALKYRIE

avenger 2 2012 2016
Valkyrie: Tamsin Egerton, Evan Rachel Wood and Rhona Mitra

Brunhilde is probably the only other Asgardian beside the mighty Thor himself, to have such an affinity with earth. Brunhilde (Valkyrie), the defender of Midgard, is one of thee coolest characters marvel have, and she is a Character that would be a welcomed addition if she comes in Thor 2, and manages to sneak her way into the Avengers. Even though she is an Asgardian, Brunhilde made her first appearance in an Avengers comic.

Evan Rachel Wood would be our pick for a young Brunhilde or Samantha Parrington they both Valkyrie. This young actress has been around for a while now and she will certainly bring weight to the role.

Rhona Mitra has starred in countless films as a strong female character, to general audiences she is most famous for her role in Underworld: rise of the Lycans. Mitra possesses the screen presence to really make Valkyrie feel like a warrior that has fought in countless battles.

Yasmin Egerton, might be an unknown commodity to general audience, but this beauty is a very talented actress, all she needs is the right role to take her to the top! She's our pick for Valkyrie.

SPIDER-WOMAN

Avengers 2 2012 2016
Top Left: Spider Woman, Top Right: Emilia Clarke, Bottom Left: Mary Winstead, Bottom Right: Paula Patton

Spider-Woman might share the same name to one of Marvels biggest properties, Spider-man, but that's all that they share! These two characters are nothing alike, even there powers are not the same at all.

Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) might have a bit of a complicated origin story, especially when it comes to her gaining her powers. But she is an active S.H.I.E.L.D. agent as well as Avenger an ex-Hydra agent.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has taken on very different roles in the past, she is a brilliant actress, she is head strong, and she has the looks as someone who can stamp her authority. She is a total fit for Jessica Drew.

Emilia Clarke is a very good actress. She had incredible depth in her acting ability, and she will bring a vulnerability to Jessica Drew that few can. Seeing that Jessica Drew is British, and so is Rebecca, this is one casting we feel just makes sense.

Paula Patton is our wild card pick and probably  one pick to really make Spider-Woman memorable. Mission Impossible has shown that she can kick ass, and she is extremely charming. She will be an awesome Jessica Drew.

VISION

avengers 2 2012 2016
Doug Jones, Vison, and Clark Gregg Aka Agent Coulson
Ultron creates vision but, he is kind of made too perfect as Vision chooses not to follow his master and instead becomes an Avenger, and a hugely popular one in fact!!

Vision is a perfect fit in this Marvel Cinematic universe, and his technology is quite baffling to everybody, as he his incredibly sophisticated machine, that's almost human in his programming and thought process. (Think Jarvis with a Body)

If Vision is done, then Doug Jones has to play him. Doug Jones did Silver Surfer in fantastic Four as well as the Abe serpent in Hellboy, so his perfect for this sort of thing.

Liam Neeson or Lawrence Fishbourne can provide the voice!

Clark Gregg played Agent Coulson in Avengers, and we all know how that ended! There has been a lot of speculation by fans about Coulson returning as Vision and we will share our thoughts on that matter soon.

MOONKNIGHT

Avengers 2 2012 2016
Mattew Fox, Moon Knight and Joel Edgerton

You think it’s difficult for a superhero to juggle 2 identities, try being Moon Knight A superhero with 4 identities: His superhero identity Moon Knight, a millionaire entrepreneur Steve Grant, a Taxi Driver Jade Lockley and his real life self Mark Spector.

A character that doesn't really have any powers, normally using traditional as well highly advanced weapons. However, this character is quite dark and has a lot issues that he has to deal with.

Joel Edgerton is a interesting prospect, if you watched Warrior you will know that Joel is a perfect for Moon Knight, if he does appear  in a future Marvel film, we hope that Joel will be playing him.

Truthfully, Matthew Fox was never on our radar for any role in any Marvel Comic that is until the first few images popped up online of him, I'm Alex Cross. Well that certainly changed our minds. Fox has always put in solid performances but with Alex Cross showing that he can go an extra mile, we certain with him as Moon Knight it will be quite an interesting take.

NOVA

Avengers 2 2012 2016
Dave Franco, Nova and Lucas Till
Marvel President Kevin Feige recently stated that Galaxy of the Guardians would get a film. Meaning more of Marvel's cosmic universe will be explored. however, how can u go exploring the universe without NOVA!! Said to be a mixture of Spider-man and DC's Green Lantern, Nova truly is an awesome character.

Lucas Till might still be young but he has been acting for quite a few years already, most notably taking a role in X-men's First Class as Havok and providing a solid performance as the mutant. We think a role like Nova could suit him very well, as he has the right look as well as personality to pull of this charismatic hero.

Dave Franco is still making a name for himself, however he does have good comedic timing, which is important for a character like Nova who is constantly having discussions with his helmet! Dave might still not have been fully tried and tested but a role like this could easily put him on the map.

RONIN aka ECHO
avengers 2 2012 2016
Ronin, Rooney Mara, Echo/Maya Lopez and Ashley Greene

General audience might not know Maya Lopez, but this badass babe (also known as Echo, real name Maya Lopez) is definitely one of Marvels coolest characters. She is deaf, with photographic reflexes, which basically means just by watching someone do something, she will be able to do it herself. Which makes her a very tough opponent to handle.

Infamous amongst Twilight idiots and maybe not as well known by general audiences, Ashley Greene is a beautiful talented actress, a true rising star. Echo is dangerous and charming, which is two traits that Greene can project wonderfully, a role like Echo could be a defining one for the actress.

Rooney Mara can portray the perfect embodiment of the character, as she will be able to project Maya Lopez's contrasting emotions while still showing her off to be a true badass! If you seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, we sure you wouldn't need that much convincing.

THOR 2 VILLAIN CAST

ENCHANTRESS

avengers 2 2012 thor 2 2013 2016
Imogen Poots as Enchantress

Amora aka The Enchantress is probably one of thee most loved villains in comic book history, and she is most certainly close to our hearts! She might be a villain, but this Asgardian is lost in love with Thor, as he doesn't share the same feelings for her, Amora falls into villainy to simply spite the god of Thunder.

Imogen Poots is by far our preferred choice for the role of Amora, The Enchantress. Poots is young, beautiful, mesmerizing, talented and enchanting. This role is perfectly suited for the young actress.

BONUS AVENGERS CAST

SCARLET WITCH AND QUICKSILVER

Avengers 2 X-men Mutants 2012 2016
Alexandra Daddario and Jamie Campbell Bower as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

This brother and sister duo, might be mutants, might be the children of Magneto, might be X-Men, however above all else they are Avengers First!! With so many ties to the x-men you would think they wouldn’t be so prominent in the Avengers, but they are, and they a truly classic members.

Alexandra Daddario is our choice for Scarlett Witch. She's young, talented, and has thee most mesmerizing eyes that's befitting for the witch.

Jamie Campbell Bower, still young yet this actor is quite experienced, playing a number of different roles through out his career, yet quicksilver can be the one role that won't be long stretch for the actor, but it would be a perfect fit.

Make sure you check back at least twice a week, as we will release profiles on two characters each week, explaining why we chose them as well as why we chose the actor or actress to play.

A FOX TALE (Cool Short-Film)

Fox Tale A Awesome Short!
A FOX TALE SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST ANIMATED SHORTS I HAVE SEEN, AWESOME!!

Check out this very cool short animated film directed by four students at the French school Supinfocom Arles... Thomas Bozovic, Alexandre Cazals, Julien Legay and Chao Ma.

The short is called A Fox Tale, the story takes place in the heart of ancient China, and it follows two brothers that are hunting a fox, "this mad journey will have them face treason, bravery, hatred and love."
This is a very awesome short film, with animation that rivals big budget animated films we see various studios dish out. Certainly something worth checking out.

WHAT WILL WE SEE IN THE S.H.I.E.L.D. TV SERIES??

WHAT WILL THIS S.H.I.E.L.D. TV SERIES BE ABOUT??

After much fan speculation Marvel finally revealed that the TV series they planning will in fact be about the organization that has been tying The Marvel Cinematic Universe together all this time known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel then revealed that the man behind the show, whose responsibility it will be to bring this show to life on the small screen, would be none other than Avengers director, Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly).

Joss will be helping with some creative aspects of the show and just lend his hand in the creative process as well lending his experience to his brother Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife, Maurissa Tancharoen, as the married couple would serve as show-runners.

Recently Whedon spoke about the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series and said, "It's new characters. It needs to be its own thing, you want [The Avengers] to go off on their own thing and say, 'Well, what has S.H.I.E.L.D. got that the other heroes don't have?'“

He then went on to say, "They're not superheroes, but they live in that universe, that makes them a little bit — even though they're a big organization — underdogs, and that's interesting to me."

Now that is very interesting to me, as what he said kind of mimic some of my thoughts that I had about this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. It would be interesting to see how S.H.I.E.L.D. would be utilized in this TV series, but what every fan wants to know is what can we expect from it.

I certainly feel that Marvel's ambition isn't limited and that this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series could be used to expand the MCU at a much quicker rate, then they would be able to do with their films alone.

That being said, the TV series could literally be about anything within S.H.I.E.L.D. It could be about young S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in training in the S.H.I.E.L.D. academy, it could be about low leveled Agents, R&D S.H.I.E.L.D. departments, finding new super powered human beings, a specific S.H.I.E.L.D faction or it could be about the various spy missions S.H.I.E.L.D. agents get called out on.

With that being said, here are a few things we think we MIGHT see or NOT see in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series:

NO HELICARRIER BUT OTHER BASES OF OPERTATION

Now I recently watched Avengers again, (yes I just bought the Blu-Ray), and in a film that has several standout scenes, the reveal of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier is such a memorable one. The Helicarrier has been a big part of the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s history debuting all the way back in 1965. However, considering Marvel won't spend outrageous sums of money bringing it to life on the small screen, it's safe to say that the Helicarrier might cameo once or safer to say, never appear in the TV series at all.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier

Now don't fret, S.H.I.E.L.D. is an International Organization who have an insane amount of resources including, many Bases of Operations around the world.
These bases can be found in highly populated areas, right under the publics nose, or in isolated locations like under the sea or in the middle of the Dessert.

NO NICK FURY BUT MAYBE MARIA HILL

Firstly, Samuel L. Jackson is an incredibly busy man, in the last decade maybe two, I can't even remember going through an entire year without watching at least one movie that didn’t have SLJ in it. Now taking into account that his Nine contract movie deal might not have provisions for a TV series appearance, and given the fact that SLJ ain’t cheap, we doubt that we will see Jackson as Fury appear in the series.
Nick Fury

However we think that Cobie Smulders might make an appearance or two on the TV series as Maria Hill, (S.H.I.E.L.D.’s second in command), for two reasons: namely Hill needs more screen time and secondly she would be less of a hassle.

Cobie is highly experienced TV actress, having been one of the main cast members of How I Met Your Mother, taking into account that the character she plays is also a big part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mythos, having her in the series could help audience get a little more familiarized with Hill, as her presence on the big screen becomes more prevalent.

Maria Hill

The only problem with this is that she might have some scheduling problems to work out as she is still on How I Met Your Mother. Hopefully it won't be that big of a problem.

NO AVENGERS BUT MAYBE OTHER SUPERHEROES

Even before Joss said it, I felt that this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series won’t feature any of the main cast of the Avengers, for similar reasons as I mentioned for Jackson.

However, what most fans are hoping for is that they at least mention, introduce or have full roles for some other superheroes in this series. Marvel has a plethora of characters at their disposal so there is no shortage of options that they could take.

Characters like Moon Knight, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Captain Britain, Black Panther, Kar-Zar, the Punisher and DareDevilcould all potentially make appearances in the TV series, but I feel they will just be in for a guest appearance of sorts, as the series will be focused on S.H.I.E.L.D.

As such, I looked at certain superheroes that have connections to S.H.I.E.L.D. that could possibly appear on the show on a weekly basis, without having to go full on super-powered hero, these include:

Ms Marvel, Carol Danvers (Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel (formerly known as Ms. Marvel) aka Carol Danvers is probably one of Marvel's biggest characters with an even bigger fan base, who have been calling for her to be introduced into the MCU sooner rather then later. This show could be the perfect place for her introduction as she could be a pilot who works for S.H.I.E.L.D.; never jumping into her origin story has to how she became a super-heroine or introducing the Kree. This is the perfect place to set up her existence without getting into to many specifics. In Marvel's Ultimates Danvers is actually the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Jennifer Walters (Left), Jessica Drew (Centre) and Sharon Carter (Right)
She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters), the cousin of Bruce Banner aka the Hulk, and one of Marvel's awesome characters as she's a long standing member of the Avengers as well as a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, and a qualified lawyer. She-Hulk's origin story is so simple it could actually be done in one, probably two episodes, with her immediate recruitment into S.H.I.E.L.D. all they would have to do is keep her human throughout the series and have her hulk-out like twice!

Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman is probably one character that should be introduced as is she has been a long time member of the Avengers, as well as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Drew could be shown to be using her powers secretly without ever donning the Spider-Woman suit. Thus showing that there are more super-humans in the world then what we have seen in the films, and one them happens to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. Or they could just ignore her powers for now and just have her as a kick-ass Agent!

Sharon Carter aka Agent 13, the niece (or maybe grandniece or great grand niece) of Peggy Carter (Captain America's WWII love interest). Sharon is Caps modern day love interest, as well as (... U guessed it) A member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Seeing as how Falcon, Possibly Black Widow & Hawkeye, S.H.I.E.L.D., Cap’s own issues plus the whole Winter Soldier thing will all be factors in the next Captain America film, a character like Sharon can do with a bit of an introduction prior to the film, allowing audiences to get a little more familiarized with the character. Which can help tremendously in allowing the character to not get the short end of the stick as we saw with Agent Clint Barton (they never even called him Hawkeye) in The Avengers.

Barbara "Bobbi" Morse (Left), Tony Masters (Centre) and Yelena Belova (Right)
Mockingbird (Barbara "Bobbi" Morse) aka Agent 19 is really a no brainer, she's a long standing member of S.H.I.E.L.D., she has a long standing relationship with Hawkeye and before the whole S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, their was talk of her getting her own TV series. So we would be surprised if this kick-ass agent doesn't make it into the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series.

Tony Masters, better known as the villain TaskMaster, he might not be a superhero but this awesome villain, has a very unique ability to mimic any physical movement perfectly. He has used this ability to study the fighting techniques of various heroes and villains making him one of the toughest hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe. TaskMaster has also been employed by various villainous organizations as well as S.H.I.E.L.D. and other US government agency's to train their respective agents. He trained Jessica Drew as well as Eric O'Grady (the third Ant-Man). So hopefully he is introduced as a S.H.I.E.L.D. trainer, leaving his fall into villainy for a season finale or some heroes big screen adaption.

Black Widow (Yelena Belova)... there was never just one (sorry Bourne: Legacy). Yelena is a spy/assassin trained by the same people who trained Natasha Romanoff (Played by Scarlett Johannson). After Natasha defects, and switches allegiance to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the US, Yelena was trained to be the new Black Widow. She would also join S.H.I.E.L.D. later, but she was pretty corrupt none-the-less. She's not fond of Natasha at all, and she is quite the rogue agent, having her in the series could be very interesting. Essentially as she is totally kick-ass but will probably need an attitude adjustment.

THE RETURN OF CLAIRE AND BENNY FROM ITEM 47

Item 47, is right now the closest thing to how we think this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series might work! If you haven't seen it as yet, make sure you get your hands on the Avengers Blu-ray now!!

Lizzy Caplan (Claire) and Jesse Bradford (Benny)

Lizzy Caplan (Claire)and Jesse Bradford (Benny) star in this awesome Marvel One Shot, and at the end of it, you realize that you just might not have seen the last of them yet, as they both (SPOILER ALERT) join S.H.I.E.L.D. So maybe, just maybe, we see a little more of them in this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series.

OTHER S.H.I.E.L.D. AGENTS RETURNING

Agent Sitwell
What other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could return to the TV series?? I'm glad you asked, as Agent Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernandez) might probably be featured more prominently on the show. Hernandez made his first appearance as Sitwell in Thor, and then the Marvel One-Shot "The Consultant" alongside Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), and then landed a minor appearance in the Avengers before featuring in his second Marvel One-Shot "Item 47". We hope he really gets his time to shine on the small screen.

Agent Blake
In Item 47 we get introduced to Agent Blake, played by Titus Welliver, who is described as a straight-faced, play it by the book type character. Titus is very good actor, having starred in a number of TV shows as well as films, so we would be surprised if he is not included in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series.
Yes Warren Kole was in Avengers as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

Warren Kole, most famously known for his role as detective Wes Mitchell in Common Law might also just be one S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that you will see more of,… or maybe NOT. Yes, Kole actually made an appearance in Avengers as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and had like two lines! Now I know it's probably a long shot, but given the success of Common Law, Marvel might just take the opportunity to make his Agent a little more prominent in the universe, or not! Stranger things have happened.

COULSON, DEAD OR ALIVE??

First thing first, if Coulson is indeed alive I feel that they would re-introduce him in a feature film, as opposed to in a TV series. However that doesn't mean he won’t appear at all. Depending on the timeline they use, Coulson could be a main feature or a guest star for episodes that flashback to previous S.H.I.E.L.D. missions.

Agent Coulson will be Avenged

Either way I won't rule out Coulson's appearance in this S.H.I.E.L.D. series just as yet.

NEW SHIELD AGENTS WE HOPE TO SEE

So far we haven't really gotten to know any other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents beside Coulson, and Sitwell (who we still don't know that well). So in terms of some of the better known S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, here are just a few names we hope pops up in the series.

Eric O'Grady (Ant-Man - Left) Abigail Brand (Centre) and Daisy Johnson (Quake - Right)
Daisy Johnson (also known as Quake) is super powered agent, who is the daughter of the villain Mister Hyde and the present director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (in the comics that is). Well seeing as how her dad is a villain, the story of her recruitment in S.H.I.E.L.D., could make for one good episode!

Abigail Brand is the commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D., a S.H.I.E.L.D. offshoot that deals with defending the Earth from extraterrestrial threats. Given the earths recent encounter with aliens in New York, it would make sense if we see Brand as a scientist who works for S.H.I.E.L.D., and helps sets up this new division, called S.W.O.R.D. (which was actually created by Whedon himself in the comics).

Eric O’Grady is the third man to wear the Ant-man suit, but before he became "the Irredeemable Ant-Man", he was a low level S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. O'Grady is a man that stole Pym's Ant-Man suit, not to seek justice or anything like that, but to get girls by claiming to be a superhero. It could be interesting to see how his life was as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and how he actually managed to become one.

Clay Quartermain, G.W. Bridge, Jimmy Woo and Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine
Before Agent Coulson, there was Clay Quartermain, probably one of the most famous S.H.I.E.L.D. agents’ who isn't a superhero or a director of the Organization. He is highly skilled, very competent guy, who is loyal, athletic, and a good soldier. I'd be surprised if he doesn't finally get introduced into the MCU in this series.

G.W. Bridge the fourth executive director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Little is known about George Washington Bridge's early youth. A seventeen-year-old G. W. served in the Vietnam War, before later using his military skills to become a highly skilled mercenary. He would join S.H.I.E.L.D. and work his way up the ranks soon after.

Jimmy Woo is a Chinese-American secret agent, who first worked for the FBI, being one their most decorated agents, before being picked up by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine an Italian citizen who joins S.H.I.E.L.D., after her parents have been killed. She was a former love interest for Nick Fury, something that could be interesting to see.

Al MacKenzie (Left), Alexander Pierce (Centre) Walter Lawson aka Captain Marvel (Normal vs Ultimates Outfit)

Al MacKenzie was once the C.I.A. liaison to S.H.I.E.L.D, who became romantically involved with Contessa Valentina Allegra di Fontaine after a while, which led to an estrangement between him and Nick Fury. MacKenzie later joined S.H.I.E.L.D. full time, however subsequently, under unknown circumstances, he resigned from S.H.I.E.L.D., and wrote a "tell-all" book entitled UnSHIELDed: an Unauthorized Insider's Look Behind the World's Most Powerful Global Spy Network, which purportedly explained some of the history behind the organization from his point of view. (Talk about drama!)

Alexander Goodwin Pierce was a S.H.I.E.L.D. sleeper agent working in HYRDA, he would also become Fury’s body guard before leading one of Fury’s own independent teams.

How do you introduce a new complicated alien race to General audiences? Well you first introduce scientist Walter Lawson who is in fact Mar-Vell also known as Captain Marvel, a Kree (Alien Race) soldier sent to spy on Earth. Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) gains her powers (as well as name) from Captain Marvel; Introducing the audience to him as Lawson will allow Marvel to foster a relationship between the character and the audience, by teaching the audience a little more about the Kree as well as tease his Captain Marvel awesomeness!

THE HISTORY OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

In terms of how S.H.I.E.L.D. was formed (in the MCU), all we know right now is that Howard Stark was one of the founding members. We can only assume that Peggy, Colonel Phillips, Dum Dum Dugan and the Howling Commandos (All of whom are characters from Captain America: the First Avenger), were the other founding members. We not even sure if Nick Fury was indeed a founding Member of S.H.I.E.L.D and in what year was it founded.

Now in 2010, Marvel released a new interesting S.H.I.E.L.D. comic, that kind of deals with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s origins. It points to S.H.I.E.L.D. being founded by Imhotep (He is considered to be the first architect, engineer and physician in early history, and served as chancellor to Pharaoh) in the 27th Century BC (Ancient Egypt).

The series details the secret history of an occult organization called the Brotherhood of the Shield, whereby we soon find out that Zhang Heng (a great Chinese astronomer, mathematician, inventor, geographer, cartographer, artist, poet & statesman), Galileo Galilei (the "father of modern observational astronomy", the "father of modern physics", and "the Father of Modern Science"), and Leonardo da Vinci (a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer), were all members of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We then find out that other legendary men have also had certain connections to S.H.I.E.L.D., such as Michelangelo, Sir Isaac Newton, Nostradamus as well as Nikola Tesla.

We really don't foresee them telling these stories just as yet, but we do hope that they do tease the Brotherhood of Shield as part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s history, without getting into to many specifics.

EXTENDING THE MARVEL UNIVERSE

This TV series it gives Marvel the opportunity to introduce locations, villains, organizations, etc. in the Marvel Universe simultaneously. This will not only get the audience familiarized with smaller or even bigger aspects of the Universe, but Marvel can use this to see how the audience responds to certain elements that they might add. If the reaction is extremely positive, it might help push a particular characters chances to get to the big screen sooner rather than later.

K'un L'un
In terms of some interesting locations we would love to see: Savage Lands (a hidden Pre-historic land), Atlantis (based on the mythical city), K'un L'un (the stronghold of a colony of humanoid aliens whose spaceship crashed in a pocket dimension that intersects with Earth), and Transia(fictional European country, birth place of Scarlett Witch & Quicksilver as well as Jessica Drew) amongst others.

The Raft
Hopefully we learn more about villainous organizations like AIM, Secret Empire, Black Spectre and the Serpent Society while maybe learning more about HYDRA too, while we get introduced to other Government organizations such as S.W.O.R.D. and Department H.

This could also be a good time to introduce audience members to the legendary super-villain prisons known as The Raft, Rykers Island, and the Vault.

Judging from all these aspects that we pointed out, it's clear to see that there is great potential to expand the MCU and get many different characters and places set in the world, without disrupting anything that has been done in the films so far.

This TV series could really enrich the MCU, allowing audiences to see things that we wouldn’t necessarily get to see in the films or any other TV series in fact.

So we really are hoping that Marvel does take advantage of their awesome collection of characters and put them to use, while allowing us to get to know more about S.H.I.E.L.D. and the world of the Marvel Universe.

Let us know what do you think about the Marvel Universe so far, and what do you want to see in this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series and what you don’t want to see?? Comment below!
